‘Foreign Bodies’ is one of my ongoing senior thesis projects at Pratt Institute. This project explores the foreign, unnatural situations we have begun to put our bodies through due to modern inventions and subsequent lifestyle choices. ‘Soul Delay’ is a sub-component of this thesis topic. It discusses jet lag, based on a text by William Gibson, ‘Pattern Recognition’:
“Damien’s theory of jet lag is correct: that our mortal soul is leagues behind us, being reeled in on some ghostly umbilical down the vanished wake of the plane that brought us to our destination, hundreds of thousands of feet above the Atlantic. Souls can’t move that quickly, and are left behind, and must be awaited, upon arrival, like lost luggage.”
Toolkit for the Soul helps you combat jet lag with a set of six products. “Soul Delay” includes two informative and personal passport-sized books about jet lag.
